Class Visits &
Workshops << |
Often students are not aware of the type of writing support that is available at the University Writing Center. You can schedule a visit by a Writing Center consultant as a way of introducing students to our staff, services, and philosophies. We are also available to conduct focused workshops with your class on one or more aspects of the writing process, such as guidelines for meeting documentation standards.
Call 262-3144 to schedule a visit; we ask that all classroom visits be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance. For a custom workshop, please schedule at least two weeks in advance.
Click here to find out more about including information about the Writing Center on your syllabus or assignments. We provide text that can be copied and pasted directly into any electronic document that provides our hours, location, and an explanation of our general services. Separate text is provided if you are interested in ESL services and/or information relevant for group assignments.
The Writing Center has developed several brochures, bookmarks, and flyers which summarize our services and provide current contact information and operating hours. Contact the Writing Center if you are interested in distributing these materials to your students. The Writing Center is an excellent resource for handbooks on the writing process, grammar instruction, and field-specific style, formatting, and documentation guidelines. We shelve texts that are representative of the most widely used techniques and standards and of the most up-to-date approaches to teaching and using writing in the university setting. We ask that faculty use texts on-site or make special arrangements with the Writing Center director to borrow handbooks.
